How would YOU describe YOURSELF?
One thing we like to do over at The Candid Camera is have FUN! We would describe ourselves as witty, whimsical and full of wonder. But, what about YOU? Here's how some of you describe yourselves:
We like to have children choose a word that describes themselves....so they can see how their personality changes over time and develops with age. He may feel like he's "crazy" now.....
"Nice" is such a gentle word...wonder what he'll use to describe himself in about 10 years.
Some people just describe themselves as their own name -- his name says it all!
...so does her name (and the face!)
This little girl wanted to use the word "cheeky", but her mom wrote "social" -- good thing she can't read yet!
Some people associate themselves with their stage of life....graduating high school...
...or even better -- a lifetime of love!
How would YOU describe YOURSELF and how has that changed over time?

Fall!
We here at The Candid Camera have been extremely busy and our October is ALREADY full and it's only the 2nd day of October...
So, this fall we have fallen in love with new babies, smiled with preschoolers, and captured some wonderful family memories!
More fall photo shoots to come -- fall is my absolute FAVORITE season, so I am so happy to share some autumn memories with our clients.

Sara's Mayoon
When Heather and I started this small photography business, we started because we wanted to take quality family photos at a decent price. Little did we know that we were preparing to enter various cultures and experiences that I would have never been a part of if it weren't for this photo business.
Heather and I were priviledged to be asked to photograph a Mayoon. Now, for 2 white Caucasian girls, this was a window into a different culture and boy did we have a BLAST! (a Mayoon -- for those of you who are also unfamiliar -- is a pre-wedding party for the bride and her girlfriends. The guests feed the bride-to-be fruit and shower her with good wishes).
Funny story from the girl that grew up in the middle of Illinois surrounded by cornfields: when we arrived at the bride's parents house, the bride was getting ready upstairs and family and friends were so kind and helpful -- helping Heather and I find out details of the festivities and where to find Sara, etc. I kept thinking to myself, wow -- everyone is so nice and coming up to us helping us -- I wonder how they know we needed help? DUH -- we were the only 2 white girls!!!
But, that being said -- we felt so welcomed -- even to the point that I didn't even notice the cultural difference -- I felt like we fit in so well with Sara and her family. And THAT is more of a compliment to Sara and her family -- that they opened their doors and ceremony to us and we appreciated the experience.
Sara and her sister getting ready upstairs.
Sara being "unveiled" to her family and friends -- she walked downstairs and outside under a canopy and once she arrived, her friends took the veil off to show her beauty!
Here one of Sara's grandmothers feed her fruit.
What a wonderful moment -- getting blessings from your grandmother -- Sara you are so lucky!
Friends rub a paste into Sara's palm
Sara and her mom -- such a beautiful family!
Thanks again Sara for including us in your evening -- may you reap the blessings in your marriage that you shower onto others.

A Growing Family...
A milestone in any family is the 9 months of growing a baby and the birth of that precious gift. A growing family is always so much fun to snap pictures of -- both the baby-to-be and the big sibling!
A moment those of us with children want to engrave in our memory - reminders of those little kicks in our belly, the priviledges of knowing that soon a new bundle with be added to our family!
The bond between husband and wife grows closer as we near the new addition...
Big Brother grows too -- maybe waiting the anticipation of his new sibling? Or maybe just being two and exlporing the world without a care or awareness of the expanding of his family...

Summer Fun!!
Around here, we are sure enjoying this summer weather -- even if it has been above 90 degrees a few times!
Nothing is better than ICE CREAM on a hot day!
Feeling the air through your hair while you swing...
...or spraying your face with the hose -- always a sure-fire way to cool off!
A little (or BIG!) mini golf game is always a favorite...
...so is exploring that which is unique.
A game of hide-and-seek is somehow always won!
And of course, America's favorite pasttime is not lost during the long summer nights!
So, kick back, relax and enjoy each moment that this summer is going to bring your way!
